Caleb Serong supports Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir and urges teammates to fully commit to team roles to turn their season around after a disappointing loss to St Kilda.
The vice-captain said there had not been 100 per cent buy-in to team roles, however, holding the Dockers back and leading to mounting pressure on Longmuir.
"It's on us to respond and make sure we're the ones going out there and playing the gameplan that he's setting up for us, because it's a winning gameplan in my opinion. We just haven't played it consistently enough and that's on us," Serong said.
Caleb Serong tops another All-Australian season in 2024 with his second consecutive Fremantle best and fairest award.
The 23-year-old won the award from runner-up Andrew Brayshaw for the second year in a row, with third-placed Hayden Young making it a clean sweep on the podium for the Dockers' midfield trio.
After being named in the 2023 All-Australian team, Caleb Serong wins his maiden Doig Medal as Fremantle's best and fairest for the year.
"We highly value the contest and stoppage, and he was able to have an impact in those areas in almost every game," Dockers coach Justin Longmuir said of Serong.
"He's improving year on year, which is what all young players are aiming to do, and winning the Doig Medal is great recognition of the work he's put in over a number of years."
Andrew Brayshaw claims his first Doig Medal as Fremantle's club champion for the 2022 season.
Brayshaw polled 273 votes to finish clear of defender Brennan Cox (200), who finished in the top 10 for the first time after a career-best season, and midfield gun Caleb Serong (197).
Nat Fyfe will captain Fremantle for a sixth straight year in 2022, heading a five-man leadership consisting of Andrew Brayshaw, Alex Pearce, David Mundy, and newly promoted Caleb Serong.
Michael Walters has decided to step down from the leadership group in 2022 after five years in the role.
Serong gathered a loose ball deep in the forward pocket, was brought to ground by the Eagles' Dom Sheed and slid across the turf until he bounced back up and quickly threw the ball onto the outside of his right boot.
After winning the 2020 AFL Rising Star award and being named the AFL Players' Association best first year player for the season, Serong signs a new two-year deal with Fremantle to remain at the club until the end of 2023.
"I just love the family feel around the club. Everyone is really close and it's a really young group," Serong said.
"I think all the boys are really excited about what we can do and achieve with who we have here at the moment, I can't wait for the next few years."
Caleb Serong wins the 2020 NAB AFL Rising Star award after averaging 16.9 disposals over 14 games during the 2020 AFL season.
"It's a massive honour and it's extremely humbling. It's pretty special," Serong said.
"There's some guys from this year's nominees who are cracking players who are going to have amazing careers, so competing for those guys this year and be able to win the award is pretty special. I'm extremely humbled to win it and it's a massive honour."
Caleb Serong makes his AFL debut for Fremantle with 12 disposals (6 kicks and 6 handballs), 3 marks and 5 tackles in a 13-point loss to Gold Coast.

Caleb Serong is relishing the benefits of his first footy pre-season as the competitive hitouts approach.
"Having that extra running and gym under the belt, compared to my previous years, that will definitely hold me in good stead and I'm really excited about what I can do hopefully this year," Serong said.
