Adam Schneider Biography

Monday, 16 October 2017
Adam Schneider is named Greater Western Sydney's new NEAFL coach.

"Adam has a sharp footy brain and a real passion for the game," GWS football manager Wayne Campbell said.

"Having grown up in Wagga Wagga and having lived in Sydney during his playing career, Adam understands the challenges and opportunities for the Giants and we think he'll be a good fit for our club."

Thursday, 8 October 2015
Adam Schneider is weighing up a coaching future after impressing as a mentor to the St Kilda's young players in 2015.

He is considered a ready made assistant by those who have worked with him, particularly later in his 13-year career.

"At times he has been like another assistant coach on the field and has provided tremendous guidance for our young players like Jack Lonie and Jack Sinclair," Saints coach Alan Richardson said last month.

Tuesday, 25 August 2015
Adam Schneider will play his last AFL game this week after announcing his retirement.

Schneider will play his final game against the Sydney Swans, the team he represented 98 times, including the 2005 premiership and 2006 losing Grand Final.

"I've been very fortunate to have represented two great clubs throughout my time in football," Schneider said.

"I've had some fantastic experiences, met a lot of wonderful people and am extremely grateful to have had the career I have had."

Thursday, 25 June 2015
Adam Schneider will be eligible for senior selection for the rest of the season after St Kilda promoted the veteran from its rookie list.

"Adam has been tremendously important for us this season," Saints coach Alan Richardson said.

"His form has been consistent, and in many ways he acts as an on-field assistant coach for our young guys, directing traffic and using his years of experience out there. He has been invaluable for the development of our exciting young group."

Adam Schneider misses two crucial shots late in Sunday's two-point loss to Essendon.

Schneider missed a set shot with six minutes left in the final term from directly in front, which would have given the Saints a 10-point lead if he'd converted.

The Bombers promptly rebounded and goaled through Travis Colyer, which gave them a one-point advantage.

Then, Schneider failed to cleanly gather a bouncing ball at the top of the goalsquare, fumbled, and shanked it through for a point with just over two minutes left.

St Kilda coach Alan Richardson said it was disappointing, but added the 30-year-old deserved leeway after proving his commitment over the off-season.

"If you have someone miss shots like that but they're not doing the work on the training track, you get incredibly frustrated," Richardson said.

"Of course we're disappointed and he'd be incredibly disappointed, but he's doing the work so he gives himself every opportunity.

"He missed them today, (but) he'll get them next time."

Tuesday, 28 October 2014
St Kilda has confirmed that veteran Adam Schneider will extend his career in 2015 as a mature-aged rookie after delisting the 30-year-old.

"We are looking forward to Adam continuing with us as a mature-aged rookie. He still has much to offer on-field while also continuing to provide strong leadership to our young, emerging playing group," St Kilda's chief operation officer Ameet Bains said.

Friday, 12 September 2014
Adam Schneider will have to wait until the end of the trade period to find out if he's a required player at St Kilda.

"No decision has been made on Adam," Saints head of football Chris Pelchen said.

"We will work through the AFL trade period and then further review the composition of our list before arriving at a conclusion."

Tuesday, 10 June 2014
A skin infection on Adam Schneider's foot has finally responded to antibiotics but the veteran Saint is expected to be sidelined for up to a month.

Schneider, 30, has spent more than a week in hospital but the club is now hopeful he will be discharged on Wednesday.

"Thankfully, [the infection] has now responded to antibiotics and we anticipate the condition will be able to be managed at home," St Kilda's head of football Chris Pelchen said.

"He is likely to miss three to four weeks."

Friday, 6 June 2014
Adam Schneider will be sidelined for the next few weeks after being treated for a mystery infection in his foot.

"His foot basically has received some sort of infection, his foot has swollen – is it bone, is it skin, they're still working through that," St Kilda coach Alan Richardson said.

"It's looking like a couple of weeks. It could have been a lot worse so that's a positive."

Friday, 14 March 2014
Adam Schneider will be rested for two to three weeks as he tries to overcome a severely bruised back suffered during a practice match against Port Adelaide.
Wednesday, 1 January 2014
New St Kilda coach Alan Richardson has implemented a tough pre-season program for the players, a program which Saint Adam Schneider says will be beneficial for the team in 2014.

"Richo has been great. He's old school, which I like, he's all about hard work and that's the first message we got from him; that we're going to be a hard-working team and train hard and that's what you've got to be if you're going to be part of St Kilda," Schneider said.

"A few of the boys have been blown away with how hard it's been. It's been one of the hardest pre-seasons the boys have had in the last five or six years.

"We're all extremely fit at the moment and all flying, so we're reaping the rewards and that's all because of the way Richo has approached it."

Saturday, 21 December 2013
After struggling with hamstring and foot injuries for the past two seasons, Adam Schneider says he hopes to return to form in 2014.

"I've just got to get the body right. I haven't had much luck in the past two years with the body so I'm really out to redeem myself and make up for it because you never know when your career can be over," Schneider said.

"I'm going to make sure I go out giving everything I've got and hopefully get another year or two or three out of footy."

Friday, 20 September 2013
Adam Schneider has ended speculation about his future after signing a one-year deal with the Saints that will see him continue his career in 2014.
Wednesday, 28 August 2013
Adam Schneider will play his 200th game against Fremantle, a game which will coincide with teammate Stephen Milne's final game.

"Milney is the greatest forward pocket I have ever played with or who you will ever see in the game," Schneider said.

Schneider said he hopes to play on next year after the frustration of dealing with injuries this year and in 2012.

"It has been annoying, the last two years have been pretty frustrating," he said.

"The most frustrating thing is watching the way the team's gone - we haven't been quite able to get that success on the field and I haven't been able to help."

Wednesday, 30 January 2013
Nick Riewoldt will captain St Kilda for an eight successive season under a new leadership structure.

Riewoldt will be joined by Leigh Montagna, Nick Dal Santo, Ben McEvoy, James Gwilt, David Armitage, Sean Dempster and Jarryn Geary in the leadership group after Sam Fisher and Adam Schneider decided to step aside.

Thursday, 17 May 2012
St Kilda forward Adam Schneider will play his first game of 2012 in the VFL this week for Sandringham after overcoming a hamstring injury.

"Adam's a quality player and he's in our best side without doubt. He is an elite kicker of the football and an extremely smart operator," St Kilda coach Scott Watters said.

"He'll play this week with Sandringham and as soon as he's ready to go we'll find a way to get him back in the side. He's an elite player that we need in our system."

Wednesday, 23 September 2009
St Kilda players have been pumping teammate Adam Schneider, who played in a premiership for the Swans, for grand final tips all week.

"The boys have asked me things about it, even Nick Riewoldt asking me a question shows how hungry the guys are. He just wanted to know about a few things here and there. For a bloke of his calibre to ask me a question just showed how hungry they are," Schneider said.

Saturday, 11 July 2009
St Kilda forward Adam Schneider will sit out Sunday afternoon's clash with West Coast at Subiaco Oval because of the birth of his child.
