Draft Profile: A left-footed midfielder and small forward, Byrne had a breakout year in the Coates Talent League playing for the GWV Rebels. He averaged 19 disposals and kicked nine goals in 13 matches to earn Team of the Year honours, as well as taking out the Rebels best and fairest award. Byrne also showed off his craft as a small forward, with his ability to read to play and powerful kicking his major weapons. Produced a dominant five-goal performance to lead Victoria Country to victory against Victoria Metro in one of his three appearances at the National Championships. His 93cm running vertical jump at the Draft Combine was a top-ten performance.
