The Bombers reward Archie Roberts for his breakout season by extending his contract by another two years.

"Already at 19 (years of age), he's a player we look to in a leadership role," coach Brad Scott said recently.

"That's a real credit to him, and we're rapt to have him. He's been huge this season. He's played some really good footy, and that's pleasing, but I think that the thing that we're encouraged by even more is that he's already, you know, in his second year, a leader of our team."

Archie Roberts is having a breakthrough 2025 season with Essendon after gaining experience at the end of 2024.

"Over pre-season, I wanted to focus on being hard to play on as a defender. I wasn't very physical, and I wanted to work on my one-on-one defending," Roberts said.

"Ben Jacobs, the backline coach, has been awesome for me, he's such a great human and he's so smart with his footy and he helped me so much with my one-on-one defending and where I wanted to get better and helped me get to the spot I am now."
