Former No.1 pick Aaron Cadman dreams of one day captaining the Giants.

"I want to be looked up to. I want to be the one leading us in," Cadman said.

"I feel like I'm in a really strong spot to perform and to really take that next step and be that man down there.

"It's just up to me to take my game to the next level for my team and for my teammates."

Aaron Cadman kicks six goals in the second half, spearheading the Giants' 26-point triumph at Engie Stadium over the Cats.

Fresh off a career five-goal haul, Aaron Cadman feels he has shed the pressure that comes with being the No.1 draft pick.

"The last few weeks I've been building really well with my personal game, just bringing down marks that I usually wouldn't. I've got confidence in my hands and everything stems from that," Cadman said.

The Giants are playing for injured teammate Callan Ward, hoping to dedicate every win to him and use his inspiration to push for a premiership in 2025 despite his absence.

"It's just more fuel to the fire. Every win we have, I think it's going to be dedicated to him and, making sure that he can be involved in hopefully a premiership," Giants forward Aaron Cadman said.

"When such a special person in the club goes down like that, it's pretty devastating. And I was on the bench at the time, I had goosebumps and felt the shivers when he walked off...all you're thinking about is your teammate because obviously he means so much to all of us."

Aaron Cadman re-signs with the Giants until the end of 2026.

"Aaron is a player with huge potential, and we are delighted to secure his services for a further two years on top of next season," Giants executive general manager of football Jason McCartney said.

"It takes time for young key forwards to develop within the AFL system and for Aaron to play 12 games at AFL level in his first season was a great achievement and we are excited about what he's going to develop into for us."

Aaron Cadman makes his AFL debut for GWS with 6 disposals (4 kicks and 2 handballs), 3 marks, a tackle and a goal in a 2-point win over Hawthorn.

No.1 draft pick Aaron Cadman can't wait to realise a dream when he makes his AFL debut this week for the Giants against Hawthorn.

"To first of all get drafted and now to be able to play my first AFL game is pretty surreal. I'm just trying to control (my emotions). You can't wipe the smile off my face. I can't wait to hurry up and get out there and play some footy," he said.
