Jack Hayes Biography

Monday, 16 January 2023
Jack Hayes is set to miss the ten weeks of the start of the season after suffering a foot injury, with scans confirming a cracked metatarsal in his left foot.

The 26-year-old had only just fully recovered from the knee reconstruction he required after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in April of 2022.

Thursday, 26 May 2022
Jack Hayes signs a two-year contract extension to remain with the Saints until the end of 2024.

The 26-year-old was one of the great stories of the first part of the season, rising from the rookie list to star at AFL level, before he ruptured his ACL against Greater Western Sydney in round six.

Friday, 18 March 2022

Wednesday, 2 March 2022
St Kilda signs Jack Hayes as a pre-season supplemental selection.

Collingwood showed interest in Hayes last year and Gold Coast had spoken to him in the past, but the Saints have tracked the South Australian across the past four years and even considered taking him in last November’s rookie draft.

Hayes was widely regarded as the best player in the SANFL following a season where he captained South Australia against Western Australia, finished third in the Magarey Medal and won the Jack Oatey Medal for best on ground in the Grand Final – polling 27 of 27 votes – after leading Woodville-West Torrens to back-to-back flags in October.
