Ben Hobbs is the 2022 round 14 AFL Rising Star nominee after finishing with 22 disposals, five marks and eight score involvements in the Bombers' 35-point win over St Kilda at Marvel Stadium.

Draft Report: A hard-at-it inside midfielder, Hobbs works tirelessly, continually finds the footy and thrives in the contest. His start to the season was not particularly smooth. After a Round 2 outing for the Rebels in which he logged 22 disposals, eight clearances and eight tackles, Hobbs missed Round 3 with a minor glute issue and then suffered a syndesmosis ankle injury in Round 4. The injury also meant he missed the AFL Academy game against Geelong's VFL side in April. However, Hobbs' last four games of the NAB League season were huge and boosted him right up the draft pecking order, where he now sits as the best pure inside-mid in the pool. He was also exposed to the NAB League in 2019 when he played five games as a 16-year-old and was an All-Australian for Vic Country that year. Hobbs was the equal-leading possession winner on the ground for Vic Country in its Challenge Match against Vic Metro in July, logging 25 disposals, seven marks, seven clearances and a goal.
