Ned Moyle Biography

Ned Moyle is hoping to grab his chance as the Suns' No.1 ruckman in 2026 with coach Damien Hardwick resting veteran Jarrod Witts.

"I was just really grateful and excited most of all," Moyle said.

"I've been waiting for an opportunity and very conscious of the faith 'Dimma' (Hardwick) has put in me and really don't want to waste that opportunity and get out there every week and put my very best foot forward."

The battle for Gold Coast Suns' No.1 ruck position in 2025 is between Jarrod Witts, the experienced co-captain, and Ned Moyle, the young player with aggressive play style.

"'Witta' has got the experience on the board, but Ned's got the youthful exuberance. They just compete, they're like battering rams out there. It's going to be a good race," Richmond coach Damien Hardwick said.

Ned Moyle is content with being the No.2 ruck behind Jarrod Witts with the Suns, believing that serving a long apprenticeship will ultimately benefit him in the long run.

"I try and look at the bigger picture. Potentially I might be playing more elsewhere, but I want to be one of the best long-term not just serviceable. That's my thought process," Moyle said.

"I think the club has been fantastic for my development. I came in pretty raw when I was 19 to giving me fantastic opportunities to develop and also just the general direction of the list."

A handful of Gold Coast's emerging players will head to a training camp in Phoenix as they take it upon themselves to take the next step in 2025.

Bailey Humphrey, Will Graham, Ethan Read, Ned Moyle and Sam Clohesy will travel to the camp in the US state of Arizona this month ahead of the Suns' official start to their pre-season in November.
