Josh Eyre suffers another setback in his pursuit of a second chance at AFL level after injuring his hamstring while training with the Magpies.

Scans have revealed a hamstring tendon tear which will require surgery and could sideline him for up to three months.

Essendon delists Josh Eyre, with the key-position player to get the chance to earn a spot in 2023 via the Pre-Season Supplemental Selection Period (SSP).

"List positions become increasingly tight as clubs approach the draft and we were not in the position at this point to offer Josh another contract. Josh will upon approval continue to train with the club leading up to the draft," Bombers general manager of football Josh Mahoney said.
