Chad Warner signs new two-year deal with Sydney Swans despite offers from West Australian clubs, citing his desire to stay in Sydney as the primary reason for his decision. "There was a big part of me that did want to go back. But then, I think the part of me that wanted to stay here was even bigger," Chad Warner said. "That overweighed in the end, and I'm very excited and happy about my decision."

Sydney is offering Chad Warner multiple contract options, including a two-year extension, in an effort to retain the star midfielder amidst interest from other clubs. "I'm obviously out of contract and just enjoying Sydney at the moment to be honest. I'm very open to everything," Warner said. "It's all up in the air. At the moment I just want to keep my options and my mind as open as it can be, to be honest."

Chad Warner is keeping an open mind about his contract situation as he considers staying with the Swans or returning to Western Australia. "I'm obviously out of contract and just enjoying Sydney at the moment to be honest. I'm very open to everything. It's obviously a big decision that I've got to make this year and I obviously want to make the right decisions, that's why I'm very open-minded and chilled about it," Warner said. "The one thing that I do know the most is that I love playing with these boys and love playing in Sydney so I don't want to make the wrong decision either way."

Chad Warner is Sydney's best player in their heavy defeat to Geelong in the 2022 Grand Final. Warner had 29 disposals, 18 contested possessions, 10 clearances, and 587 metres gained to go with two goals. "I just felt like I tried as hard as I could, which I guess is annoying in itself as well - knowing that you've done everything and they still pump you by 80 points," he said. "I take a little bit of confidence out of it but I still can't explain how you feel after that loss."

After debuting in 2020 with a couple of games mostly spent across half-forward, Warner is now being trusted in his preferred inside midfield role where he is having an impact, averaging 20 possessions a game with close to half of them contested. "He gives us some power. He goes from inside to outside, he gets across the ground really well, he loves to compete. We just knew we could put him in and give him a crack, and he'd be all right. He's been that," Sydney coach John Longmire said.

During a recent pre-season training session, Chad Warner was his usual combative self. So much so that Sydney coach John Longmire had to stop proceedings for a quiet word with the midfielder. "I only told him to calm down a little bit, but that's OK," Longmire laughed. "I didn't want to calm him down too much because I loved what I saw. I just didn't want him to injure anyone. "There's pressure and there's mock pressure, and there's a fine line between mock pressure and what he was doing, which was something I had to explain to him."
