Mitch Georgiades Biography

Sunday, 18 September 2022
Mitch Georgiades wins the 2022 Mark of the Year for his monster grab against Fremantle.

Friday, 5 August 2022
Mitch Georgiades will front up in the SANFL this week due to a lack of touch in front of goals. After kicking 32.17 in 2021, he has returned a wayward 19.23 in 2022.

"He's got a really sound technique and routine. But the problem he's got at the moment is he's emerging at the top of his run-up thinking 'I hope this is going to go through', and not believing it's going to go through," Power coach Ken Hinkley said of Georgiades.

"That happens to all footballers at some stage and all sports people at some stage. There's a little bit of self doubt that creeps in. You don't ignore it, you work with it."

Monday, 19 April 2021
Mitch Georgiades is the 2021 round five Rising Star nominee after gathering a career-high 15 disposals, taking five marks, and kicking 3 goals in his side's 28-point win over the Blues.

It's Georgiades' second nomination after also being nominated in round 9 of 2020.

Sunday, 7 February 2021
Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley is bullish about Mitch Georgiades' potential in 2021.

The 19-year-old wiped 15 seconds off his time trial this summer and appears poised to make significant improvement in his second season after a summer adding more muscle to his 191cm frame.

"Mitch has got unlimited ability and he's got an unlimited workrate that's going to give him the best chance to do that," Hinkley said.

"He's fearless in his attack on the ball and he's going to be hard work for anyone, because he's got a real power athlete about him and he's got speed and endurance."

Friday, 20 November 2020
Port Adelaide has re-signs its first three picks from the 2019 NAB AFL Draft including Miles Bergman, Mitch Georgiades and Dylan Williams, all of whom will remain at the club until the end of 2023.
Monday, 3 August 2020
Mitch Georgiades picks up the 2020 round 9 AFL Rising Star nomination after kicking three goals and having 11 score involvements in the Power's 51-point win against Melbourne at the Gabba.
Saturday, 21 March 2020
Mitch Georgiades makes his AFL debut for Port Adelaide with 11 disposals (8 kicks and 3 handballs), 3 marks, 2 tackles and 2 goals in a 47-point win over Gold Coast.
Tuesday, 25 February 2020
Port Adelaide power forward Charlie Dixon expects new teammate and draft bolter Mitch Georgiades to mount a challenge for a round one spot.

"He's jumping at everything and he's just running around playing football, as young kids do," Dixon told SEN radio.

"He's got an enormous leap on him and he's got no fear, it doesn't matter what's in front of him."

Wednesday, 27 November 2019
Mitch Georgiades is the bolter of the 2019 NAB AFL Draft, selected with pick No.18 despite missing the entire year with a quad injury.

The West Australian product wasn't even invited to the first night of the draft, but some inside intel from current Port assistant and Georgiades' former coach at WAFL club Subiaco, Jarrad Schofield, helped get him over the line.

"We tracked Mitch obviously last year, then he gets injured and doesn't play, so it's a bit of an unknown for a lot of people who heard his name mentioned," Port Adelaide head of recruiting Geoff Parker said.

"He turned up at the Combine in ripping physical condition, he tested really strongly, his interview was fantastic, we showed some vision to and they couldn't be more excited to have him come to the club."
