Jez McLennan says he couldn't be happier to have been drafted by Gold Coast.

"I spend five hours in the surf when I'm here. I live about two hours from the beach in South Australia so I make the most if it, and now it's on my doorstep," he said.

"I know Gold Coast are a young club and got a lot of really keen, motivated players. They've had a bit of a clean-out and it's the start of something new and great to be a part of. I'm really stoked."

Gold Coast select Jez McLennan with pick No.23 in the 2018 National Draft.

McLennan already has a connection to the Gold Coast, and always had it in the back of his mind that the Suns was his destination club of choice.

“I’ve got a lot of family up there and my parents wanted me to come to the SUNS,” McLennan said.

“I’ve got the majority of my dad’s side up there – grandparents, cousins, aunties, uncles – a bit of everything.

“Everyone was on board with wanting me to go up there so for it to come true, I just don’t know what to feel and what to say.”
