Brody Mihocek is up and walking after undergoing surgery on a neck fracture suffered in Melbourne's King's Birthday victory over Collingwood.

Playing against his old side for the first time, the former Pie hit the MCG turf at an awkward angle on the back of a Billy Frampton tackle in the second quarter.

Brody Mihocek officially joins the Demons, who have traded pick No.61 and a 2026 third-round pick to the Pies, receiving Mihocek and pick No.71.

"Brody has been a consistent performer at the elite level for a number of years now, and his presence up forward, as well as his ability to hit the scoreboard, will be a great addition for us."

Brody Mihocek will join Melbourne as an unrestricted free agent.

"He has proven himself as a consistent performer and his ability to compete in the air and hit the scoreboard will be a great asset for us."

Brody Mihocek is eager to join forces with Tim Membrey and Dan McStay in Collingwood's forward line as they prepare for the upcoming 2025 season.

"I'm happy to take a back seat and watch the 'Tim and Dan Show' - let them kick all the goals.'" Mihocek said.

"I do love a goal myself. I play my best footy when I'm helping others out, so I'm looking forward to setting them up and snagging a few myself."

Brody Mihocek is set to undergo surgery on a ruptured pectoral tendon suffered while playing against Essendon and will miss the rest of the 2024 home and away season.

"The ball's in Brody's court now, but he certainly won't miss out through lack of work ethic or wanting to be the best he can be," Ayres said.

"Hopefully he plays AFL when we play against Collingwood in the VFL so we don't have to worry about him."
