Mitch Crowden says mental fatigue, rather than the physical grind, was his toughest challenge at the elite.

Crowden surprised himself by making his debut in round two against Essendon and held down a place until he was dropped after the round nine loss to Sydney at the SCG.

He averaged 13 touches and four tackles in his first five appearances before fading as the fatigue factor kicked in.

"I came in round two and played eight games and I'm over the moon with that," Crowden said.

"It definitely exceeded my expectations but there's a lot to work on to try and get back there.

"I thought physically I was going well, I was running well. A little bit mentally I was fatigued, but we had a good break the other week and I came back mentally ready to go again."

Monday, 14 May 2018
Mitch Crowden signs a new two-year deal with Fremantle that will keep him at the club until the end of 2021.

The 19-year-old has exceeded expectations so far in 2018, playing every game since making his debut in round two.

"When I came to the club I wasnít expecting to get anything like this this early. Iím stoked to get it and to spend another two years at the Dockers," Crowden said.

"It was a pretty easy decision. I had a chat to dad and some family members and we felt the correct decision was just to get it done as soon as possible to start building my career."
