Greater Western Sydney send a trio to the United States on a fact-finding mission to help build a program over the pre-season that will help put Brent Daniels' and Conor Stone's hamstring woes behind them in 2023 and beyond.

Brent Daniels is expected to miss the first part of the 2022 AFL season after sustaining a foot fracture at pre-season training.

GWS recruiting manager Adrian Caruso says there was only one reason semi-final hero Brent Daniels slipped down the draft order – his height.

Daniels joined the Giants as pick 27 in the 2017 NAB AFL Draft, and has been a revelation this season, being a Rising Star nominee and playing every game for the year.

His speed and classy finish in the dying minutes last week against Brisbane was the match-winning play in the Giants' victory at the Gabba.

"'Binga' was one of those players you just couldn't not love. He's so exciting and energetic. His highlights package in his draft year was outstanding. It was as good as anyone's," Caruso told the Road to the Draft podcast.

"I still feel we got a little bit lucky that year to get a player who you rate so highly on your talent board, but also who fills the specific one need that we had. We had a pure need for a quick, small forward with skills. We just got lucky."

Brent Daniels, the competition's second-smallest player at 170cm, says his lack of height isn't an impediment.

"I've been told I'm too small. But it hasn't really fazed me too much because I know (my footy's good enough and that height shouldn't matter)," Daniels told AAP.

"The ball is on the ground a lot more than in the air, so I find it an advantage."

Brent Daniels earns a Rising Star nomination in the final round of 2019.

Daniels currently sits equal-third in the AFL for goal assists with 22 highlighting his impressive vision, decision-making and disposal efficiency.

"I haven't kicked as many goals as I would have liked personally but I'm happy to give them off to other boys in better spots, which is probably even better than kicking them yourself," he said.

Daniels finally completed the first full pre-season of his career. The continuity has been invaluable and he hasn't missed a game in 2019.

"I'm much fitter and stronger this year and my confidence has grown as the season has progressed," he said.

Brent Daniels makes his AFL debut for GWS at Perth Stadium with 10 disposals (6 kicks and 4 handballs) and 3 marks in a 11-point loss to West Coast.
