Darcy Cameron Biography

Tuesday, 15 October 2019
Darcy Cameron is now a Magpie after a trade was completed with the Swans.

Sydney has received pick No.56 in return for trading Cameron and pick No.62 to Collingwood.

"We have been keen for some time to add to our group of ruckmen and Darcy is someone we identified as a good fit for our squad," Collingwood list manager Ned Guy said.

"We like his marking ability and think that, apart from time spent on the ball, he can develop into a presence in front of the ball. Darcy has the instincts of a natural footballer. I think he will give Nathan and the coaching group real flexibility."

One-game Sydney ruckman Darcy Cameron seems certain to request a trade at season's end, with three rival clubs in the hunt for his services.

The 23-year-old, who stands 205cm, finished runner-up in the 2018 NEAFL most valuable player award, but his sole AFL appearance was in round 18 last year.

Greater Western Sydney has long been the clubhouse leader for Cameron, but Carlton and North Melbourne are muscling their way into the contest with the carrot of him becoming their No.1 ruckman.

Saturday, 21 July 2018
Darcy Cameron makes his AFL debut for Sydney at the SCG with 3 disposals (a kick and 2 handballs), 2 marks, 2 tackles and 9 hitouts in a 24-point loss to Gold Coast.

Darcy Cameron has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury.

Swans general manager of football Tom Harley said the West Australian had already consulted a specialist and will look to have surgery next week.

"He's an important part of our future so we'll give him every opportunity to get himself right with a big pre-season, but it's certainly disappointing for Darcy and we wish him well," he said.

Monday, 24 April 2017
Darcy Cameron has extended his contract with Sydney until the end of the 2019 season.

Cameron, who is yet to debut with the Swans, was already tied to the club until the end of 2018, but had no hesitation in committing for another season.

"They've been happy with my marking and ruck work, and that sort of thing, but I just need to lift my intensity around the contest, and work on my tackling and aggression," Cameron said.

"The rucks here all compete really hard for that position but at the same time they're always there to help me as well."

Tuesday, 21 March 2017
Sydney rules out Darcy Cameron out for one match after a lacerated finger became infected during a NEAFL trial match.

"He lacerated his finger last week at training and then we had a game against Sydney Uni in the NEAFL out at Blacktown in pretty treacherous conditions," Sydney football manager Tom Harley said.

"Unfortunately for Darcy his finger got infected. He's OK he just needed to flush that out and make sure he cleared it of all the bugs."

Friday, 25 November 2016
Sydney select Darcy Cameron with pick No.48 in the 2016 National Draft.
