Mitchell Hannan Biography

Tuesday, 29 August 2023
Mitch Hannan is advised that he will not be offered a contract for 2024.

"Mitch has contributed strongly across his time at the Bulldogs, highlighted by playing a pivotal role in the club's push towards the Grand Final in 2021," Bulldogs' list and recruiting manager Sam Power said.

"He's been a fantastic team-mate inside the locker room, and we wish him all the best for the next stage of his career."

Tuesday, 10 November 2020
Melbourne trades Mitch Hannan to the Western Bulldogs in exchange for a future third-round selection.

"We see him being able to add to our forward mix with his speed, tackle pressure and ability to impact the scoreboard," Bulldogs general manager of list and recruiting Sam Power said.

"He was drafted from our VFL program in 2016 and over the past four seasons has established himself as a dangerous forward at AFL level. Mitch is a versatile player who can contribute in a variety of roles."

Tuesday, 6 March 2018
Mitch Hannan signs a two-year contract extension with Melbourne to remain at the club until the end of 2020.

"Mitch's combination of speed and endurance allows him the flexibility to play as a forward and through the midfield," Demons football manager Josh Mahoney said.

"We look forward to Mitch developing his game further and building on his first season."

Saturday, 25 March 2017
Mitchell Hannan makes his AFL debut for Melbourne at Docklands Stadium with 16 disposals (10 kicks and 6 handballs), 7 marks, 4 tackles and 2 goals in a 30-point win over St Kilda.
Tuesday, 28 February 2017
Melbourne's trainers, coaches and a few players searched unsuccessfully for several minutes for draftee Mitch Hannan's two front teeth after they were knocked out in a training drill.

The 22-year-old came off second best in a tackling drill when he copped a stray elbow from teammate Pat McKenna towards the end of the session.

Hannan's two teeth were partially dislodged from the force of McKenna's elbow and he was taken to visit the dentist at the end of the training session.

"His two front teeth – half of them are gone so he should've been wearing a mouthguard so there's a tip," teammate Christian Petracca said.

"The number one rule, especially in juniors, was no mouthguard, no play.

"It wasn't a high intensity drill and it was up to him whether he wore a mouthguard and he obviously paid the consequences."

Friday, 25 November 2016
Melbourne select Mitchell Hannan with pick No.46 in the 2016 National Draft.

“He plays with a lot of flair and can take a hanger. We seem him as potentially going through the midfield, playing on the wing and also up forward," Demons recruiting manager Jason Taylor said.

"He’s got some real speed and power in his game. He’s got a fair few rough edges he needs to work on, but he brings a bit of excitement."
