Joe Atley Biography

Thursday, 17 September 2020
Port Adelaide makes the early decision to delist Joe Atley, Wylie Buzza, Tobin Cox and Riley Grundy.

"We've reached the time of the year where we have to make difficult decisions about the direction we take with our playing list," Power head of football Chris Davies said.

"I would like to thank Joe, Riley, Tobin and Wylie for their efforts and professionalism during their time at the club, and the contribution they have made to our group.

"They will always be part of the Port Adelaide family, and we wish them well for the future on and off the field."

Tuesday, 18 September 2018
Joe Atley ends speculation about a possible move to North Melbourne to play alongside his brother by signing a two-year extension with the Power.

Atley is now tied to the club until the end of 2020.

"Joe's 2018 season was significantly hampered through injury, but as our people would know, he has shown promise in both the SANFL and AFL competitions since being drafted to the club before the 2017 season," Port Adelaide general manager of football Chris Davies said.

"We're pleased he's chosen to stay and look forward to his body giving him the opportunity to continue to progress over the next two years."

Tuesday, 14 August 2018
North Melbourne is reported to be pursuing Joe Atley in an attempt to pair him with brother Shaun at Arden Street.

Atley, 20, played three games in his debut season of 2017 at Port Adelaide before an ongoing back injury limited his chances of breaking into the senior line-up in 2018.

Monday, 4 December 2017
Joe Atley is loving being mentored by 300-gamer Scott Thompson.

But that wasn't the case when 19-year-old Atley was left battered and bruised after tagging Adelaide stalwart Thompson in a SANFL game against the Crows in April this year.

"At the time, I was hating him, because he was giving me elbows and he was throwing a few punches," Atley said.

"But after the game, he came up to me and was giving me a few pointers and a few tips.

"Ever since then, I've followed him and he's followed me."

Sunday, 9 July 2017
Joe Atley makes his AFL debut for Port Adelaide with 14 disposals (3 kicks and 11 handballs), 2 marks and 3 tackles in a 32-point win over West Coast.
Friday, 25 November 2016
Port Adelaide select Joe Atley with pick No.32 in the 2016 National Draft.

"Joe is another midfielder, more of an inside type but has some speed to get out and run-and-carry the footy," Port Adelaide national recruiting manager Geoff Parker said.

"He had a good year with the Bendigo Pioneers and played a few games in the VFL with Geelong."
