Sydney is set to make an 11th-hour bid to fill its final list spot on Friday, flying two state league players to the Harbour City for medical screenings.

Just seven days out from the pre-season supplemental selection period (SSP) deadline, South Adelaide's Hayden McLean and former Magpie Sam McLarty will jet into Sydney.

With confirmation third-year key defender Jack Maibaum is to be placed on the long-term injury list after rupturing his ACL, the Swans have the ability to replace him prior to March 15.

"Each of these players has been important to our success this year in different ways, on and off the field," Collingwood list manager Ned Guy said.

"It's never easy to say goodbye and we’re going to miss having these boys at the club."

Collingwood's first selection at the 2016 NAB AFL Draft, Sam McLarty, expects his injured shoulder to only restrict him from joining full training for a couple of weeks.

"The shoulder is holding up really well," McLarty said.

"I should be back into full training in a few weeks."

"Sam hurt his shoulder halfway through the year, but he's shown, at 197cm, he can play forward, back and he's extremely athletic and a high-end competitor," Collingwood list manager Derek Hine said.

Collingwood draftee Sam McLarty has a bionic ear implant and plays in a helmet, but is otherwise unaffected by the condition that has lived with his entire life.

"Our medical team make an assessment and then they send us a recommendation. Clearly, on the report, they were more than comfortable to take him, no more than if he had a crook knee or crook shoulder," Collingwood list manager Derek Hine said.
