Darryl White Biography

The son of three-time Brisbane premiership player Darryl White will enter next month's NBA Draft after deciding to pursue a future in basketball over an AFL career.

William McDowell-White, 20, was part of the Lions' talent academy at age 13 after growing up playing Aussie Rules football for Coorparoo in the AFLQ competition.

However, the talented sporting youngster decided not to follow in his father's famous football footsteps, and gave up footy at the age of 15 so he could concentrate on basketball.

Brisbane Lions premiership player Darryl White has had his lifetime ban from playing overturned.

"It (tribunal history) looks awful in a way but when you span it out over that longevity, it amounts to nothing. Common sense prevailed in the end," White said.

Darryl White says he will appeal against the ruling that resulted in him being banned for life by the Northern Territory Football League.

"Obviously I was pretty disappointed when it happened," White said.

"I'm a bit disheartened by the whole process, but then again you see all the support that I've got and it's been a bit overwhelming. Hopefully common sense will prevail on the day."

Brisbane Lions champion Darryl White has been banned from playing football for life by a Darwin tribunal.

White was suspended for 1 week after striking Tiwi Bomber Donald Mungatopi which took his total lifetime suspensions to 16 games.

Under the new AFLNT deregistration policy, a player that has been suspended for more than 15 games will be given a lifetime ban.
