Teia Miles Biography

Wednesday, 26 September 2018
Uncontracted Teia Miles has been told to explore opportunities at rival clubs as the Hawks weigh up his future at Waverley Park.
Saturday, 1 April 2017
Teia Miles makes his AFL debut for Hawthorn at the MCG with 15 disposals (7 kicks and 8 handballs), 3 marks and 2 tackles in a 24-point loss to Adelaide.
Thursday, 4 August 2016
Teia Miles signs a two-year contract extension with Hawthorn that will keep him at the club until the end of 2018.

"I can't wait to see what’s to come in the next two years," Miles said.

"I think I've been consistent for most of the year and I'm hoping I can break into the AFL team one day either this year or over the next couple of years.

"I'm just going to keep working hard and trying to perform consistently at Box Hill (to push for an opportunity)."

Monday, 11 July 2016
Geelong coach Chris Scott has dismissed reports that Mitch Clark's future at the Cats is at risk following an alleged rift with teammate Mitch Duncan, labelling such claims "an extraordinary stretch".

On Monday evening, Fairfax Media reported Clark made sexist remarks to Hawthorn-listed player Teia Miles in the VFL that were allegedly directed towards his sister, who is Duncan's long-term partner.

It was alleged Clark sledged Miles on multiple occasions during the Cats' clash against Box Hill at Simonds Stadium on June 19.

The report said Duncan later became aware of the comments, which prompted him to confront his Geelong teammate.

Scott confirmed the incident on Monday night, but strongly rejected claims the on-field sledge would have a bearing on Clark's playing future at the Cats.

"That's an extraordinary stretch to suggest that this would have any impact on his position on the list," Scott told Fox Footy.

"It would have almost no impact, that's the significance of the issue – it's very minor without being disrespectful to the people involved.

"In terms of player relations at Geelong, things are very healthy."

Monday, 1 December 2014
Hawthorn draftee Teia Miles says he has given up his allegiances as a Geelong supporter since becoming a Hawk.

"I was mad Geelong, but not any more," Miles said.

"Every young player wants to be at a club like Hawthorn and we're all just stoked to be here.

"I've been to most of the Geelong-Hawthorn games. When we lost (the 2013 preliminary final) it was a pretty crap feeling, but being here now and we've beaten Geelong, it's fantastic."

Friday, 28 November 2014
Hawthorn select Teia Miles with pick No.49 in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft.

"The son of former Geelong, Collingwood and West Coast defender Geoff and cousin of Carlton's Dylan Buckley, Miles won the Geelong Falcons best and fairest," Hawthorn recruiting manager Graham Wright said.

"He can play as a small defender or forward and competes hard. He will take time but he has plenty of upside."
