Declan Hamilton Biography

Declan Hamilton is delisted by the Bulldogs after after never having played a senior game.

The lightly-built 21-year-old, who is the nephew of Darren and Andrew Jarman, was emergency on two occasions this season but he struggled to regularly challenge for a senior berth because of indifferent form at VFL level.

"It's a credit to Declan how he handled the transition from South Australia at the end of 2014," Bulldogs list manager Jason McCartney said.

"We'd like to thank Declan for his service to the club, and we wish him all the best for the future."

Declan Hamilton signs a one-year contract extension with the Bulldogs that will keep him at the club until the end of 2017.

Western Bulldogs draftee Declan Hamilton says he won't be weighed down by the pressure and expectation that comes with being the nephew of former AFL players Andrew and Darren Jarman.

"[The pressure] probably would have been talked about more if I had gone to the Crows perhaps," Hamilton said on Tuesday.

"I guess people are going to talk about it. I guess being in Melbourne helps, I'm looking forward to starting my career here at the Doggies and escaping the South Australian environment.

"Their footy careers are fairly well known so I just use them for a bit of guidance but try to keep to myself and not worry them too much. At the end of the day I can't control what they've done in their careers."

The Western Bulldogs select Declan Hamilton with pick No.39 in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft.

"Declan's first few games in the national championships were exceptional. He is very creative," Bulldogs list manager Jason McCartney said.

"He wasn't a high possession winner but just had some really elite running patterns and could get up the ground and run back inside forward 50 really quickly."
