Melbourne delists rookie defender Alex Georgiou after seven senior games in his first season at the club.

"[Alex] made personal and financial sacrifices, leaving a successful career and moving interstate," Demons football manager Josh Mahoney said.

"He leaves the club having played seven AFL games and knowing that he has made a lasting impression on players and coaches with his attitude."

Paul Roos has left Melbourne players Dean Terlich and Alex Georgiou in no doubt that their 'Mad Monday' costume was completely unacceptable, with the duo to face a club-imposed sanction.

The teammates attended Monday's function with Terlich, 24, dressed as disgraced entertainer Rolf Harris and Georgiou, 24, dressed as a girl.

"I find it hard to believe a couple of players could turn up like that and as a footy club … [we are] completely unhappy with their behaviour," Roos said.

"It's unacceptable and I unreservedly apologise to anyone that we have offended."

Alexis Georgiou makes his AFL debut for Melbourne at Docklands Stadium with 14 disposals (6 kicks and 8 handballs), 4 marks and 2 tackles in a 17-point loss to St Kilda.
