North Melbourne medicos will deliberate over the next 24 hours on a decision that could cost pressure forward Kayne Turner the entire 2020 season.

Turner pulled up sore from Friday night's Marsh Community Series loss to the Western Bulldogs, and a scan on Monday revealed a fracture in his left sesamoid bone under his big toe.

The Roos are seeking extra medical opinions before deciding whether to proceed with surgery or see if the bone will heel with prolonged rest across the next month.

Kayne Turner signs a two-year contract extension that will keep him at North Melbourne until the end of 2020.

"I love the club, and the direction we're heading in – I think everyone can see – is special. I want to be part of that," Turner said.

"(To get) another two years at this club with so much history it's just really exciting and I can't wait to add to that history."

Thursday, 22 June 2017
Kayne Turner will be sidelined for up to six weeks with a knee injury.

Turner's injury is a blow for the Roos given the 21-year-old has been one of their most-improved players in 2017.

Wednesday, 10 August 2016
North Melbourne youngster Kayne Turner signs a two-year contract extension to remain at the club until the end of 2018.

Turner, 20, has had a regrettable 2016. He suffered a serious hamstring injury in round six before he incurred a serious drink driving charge in May.

He was suspended by the club for four matches, to be served once he had finished the rehabilitation on his hamstring.

"I was probably a bit nervous after everything that's gone on this year," Turner said.

"But the club's shown a lot of trust in me and I couldn't be happier to be here for the next couple of years."

Tuesday, 19 July 2016
Kayne Turner is set to miss the next five weeks after suffering his third hamstring injury this season.

Playing in the VFL last Saturday, Turner injured the opposite hamstring to the one he had injured twice already this season, and now faces a race against time to return to North's senior team ahead of the finals.

"It hasn't been a great year for Kayne for a number of reasons and this latest setback is frustrating for him," North football director Geoff Walsh said.

"Early estimates are for a five-week rehabilitation period, so he could be back before the finals if all goes well."

Monday, 23 May 2016
Lindsay Thomas says North Melbourne teammate Kayne Turner has lost the respect of the playing group after his drink-driving incident.

"He's let the playing group down. I think he would've been back in a couple of weeks," Thomas said.

"He'll just have to get the respect back from the boys and the coaching staff just by the way he trains and the way he conducts himself around the footy club."

Sunday, 22 May 2016
Kayne Turner is charged by Victoria Police with drink driving after recording a blood alcohol level of .133.

"Kayne is extremely remorseful and embarrassed by his actions," North Melbourne director of football Geoff Walsh said.

"He is fully aware that his decision to get behind the wheel could have put lives at risk.

"His poor judgement and decision making has let many people down.

"While he fully co-operated with police and notified the club immediately, he'll now have to work extremely hard to regain the trust and respect of his teammates and peers.

"On top of the sanctions imposed by police, the club will consider a penalty in consultation with the leadership group and senior management."

Tuesday, 3 May 2016
Kayne Turner will be sidelined for about four weeks after injuring his hamstring tendon against the Western Bulldogs.

Turner came off the ground late in the first quarter against the Bulldogs and played no further part in the game.

Wednesday, 3 September 2014
Ben Cunnington praises the abilities of young Kangaroo teammate Kayne Turner ahead of the club's elimination final this week against Essendon.

"We always knew he was a competitor. That's why we drafted him," Cunnington said.

"I love the way he goes about it and I love playing with him.

"I suppose it's funny saying you stand taller with a 60-kilo guy running out there, but honestly you do.

"It's good. He attacks everything a million miles an hour and it's good to play alongside him."

Saturday, 9 August 2014
Kayne Turner makes his AFL debut for North Melbourne at Manuka Oval with 12 disposals (6 kicks and 6 handballs), 5 marks, 2 tackles and a goal in a 75-point win over GWS.
Thursday, 7 August 2014
The AFL's youngest player, Kayne Turner, will make his debut for North Melbourne this Saturday against Greater Western Sydney at Canberra's StarTrack Oval.

"I think I've come a long way from when I first came here and I'm doing everything I can to learn more about the game and the roles," Turner said.

"I'm still getting used to the setups and running patterns and I have to get those right before I can lock down the wing position.

"I really enjoy the role though and like the freedom it gives you around the ground. I do like playing forward as well but I'll play anywhere if it helps the team."

Thursday, 28 November 2013
17 year-old Kayne Turner will be the youngest player on an AFL list after being picked up by North Melbourne with pick No.25 in the rookie draft.

"He's a slightly built lad, but he's unconditional in his attack on the ball," North Melbourne recruiting manager Bryce Lewis said.

"He's got very good hands, he sees the game well, and he's got a lot of speed as well.

"We think he can play small back, small forward and even wing."

Turner's former coach Hollands says the jump to VFL level shouldn't pose a problem."
