Eli Templeton Biography

Friday, 28 October 2016
Tom Lee is one of four players delisted by St Kilda.

Eli Templeton, Brodie Murdoch and Cameron Shenton have also been told they will not be offered contracts for 2017.

“We really appreciate the contribution that Cameron, Brodie, Tom and Eli have made to St Kilda Football Club as both people and players," Saints chief operation officer Ameet Bains said.

"Each of the boys should be proud of their ongoing effort and level of professionalism during their time with the club."

Thursday, 18 September 2014
Eli Templeton has been promoted to the club's senior list on a new two-year deal after impressing in a brief cameo at AFL level this season.

Templeton made an eye-catching start to the season, quickly establishing himself as an exciting and creative half forward before suffering a broken arm in round six.

"It's been a good learning experience," Templeton said.

"Obviously the break was pretty disappointing but I'm probably better off long-term for the developments I've made off-field during my time off.

"The period on the sidelines honestly went really quickly."

Eli Templeton will return to full training next week as he sets himself for a full pre-season following a 2014 campaign ruined by a freakish broken arm.

"I really ramped it up today in my session and I'm back into full contact next week," Templeton said.

"Unfortunately we've just run out of weeks to get back and play, but just getting back out with the boys next week will be great.

"One of my goals is to play round one next season, so I just want to get fit and have a tough pre-season."

Tuesday, 29 April 2014
Eli Templeton could be sidelined for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery for a broken arm.

"Eli had made a promising start to his first AFL season after being elevated from the Saints rookie list, so to suffer this injury in round six was very disappointing for both him and the club," St Kilda head of football Chris Pelchen said.

"But we are confident the outstanding application that Eli has already shown to his football will see him return to play either later this year or early in 2015."

Tuesday, 18 March 2014
Eli Templeton is a strong chance to play in St Kilda's season opener against Melbourne after being upgraded to the club's senior list for Lewis Pierce, who is battling back fractures.

Templeton, the hard-running midfield/forward prospect from Burnie, was dealt a blow last year when he wasn't picked up in the NAB AFL Draft.

After representing Tasmania at the under-18 national championships last year and playing senior football for the Burnie Dockers, he considered himself a chance to find an AFL home.

So when his name wasn't read out, he had to endure nearly a week until the rookie draft to find out if another chance was a whole year away.

"It certainly cut deep but I think it made me more determined and I just wanted to get there, for a long time now," Templeton said.

"It was hard, not knowing if I was going to get another chance with the rookie draft and if I was going to get picked up.

"I thought I had a chance but there were a lot of other good kids out there I was competing against."
