Jay Kennedy-Harris Biography

Monday, 21 October 2019
Melbourne delist Jay Kennedy-Harris.

Kennedy-Harris managed 39 games across six seasons with Melbourne, but could only muster five senior appearances throughout the 2019 campaign.

"Jay's time was hampered by injuries at different stages, but he always had a positive attitude to the challenges of being an AFL player," Melbourne footy boss Josh Mahoney said.

"We are very proud of the person he has become and wish him all the best for his next opportunity."

Tuesday, 12 March 2019
Jay Kennedy-Harris is set to miss up to 12 weeks after suffering a severe hyperextension of his knee in the Demons' JLT Community Series game against Brisbane.

"Luckily, his ACL was okay, but he's got pretty significant bone bruising on that knee," Demons elite performance manager Dave Misson said.

"He's probably 12 weeks before he's back to play."

Friday, 28 September 2018
Jay Kennedy-Harris signs a new one-year deal with Melbourne to remain at the club in 2019.
Sunday, 2 July 2017
Melbourne confirm that Jay Kennedy-Harris, Ben Kennedy, Dean Kent and Jake Spencer were banned from selection for Friday night's loss to Sydney after breaching the club's alcohol policy.

The quartet broke team rules following VFL affiliate Casey's 26-point win over Box Hill.

Tuesday, 27 June 2017
Jay Kennedy-Harris signs a new one-year deal with Melbourne, keeping him at the club until at least the end of the 2018 season.

"After an injury-interrupted year in 2016, we've been really pleased with Jay’s development this year," Melbourne football manager Josh Mahoney said.

"He's had continuity in games and although he's played mostly in the VFL, his development at Casey, particularly in the last three or four weeks has been very impressive.

"We look forward to that developing further."

Jay Kennedy-Harris' hopes of being selected in round one have been dashed after he suffered a broken arm at training.

Kennedy-Harris will miss up to two months of football after scans revealed a fractured forearm sustained in a tackling drill in the session at Casey Fields.

The injury is shocking luck for the 21-year-old who was seen as a real chance to be selected in the Demons' opening team against St Kilda.

"Jay was involved in a tackling contest during a drill and got a whack on the forearm and came up pretty sore," Demons elite performance manager Dave Misson said.

"He went in for scans and it showed that he had a break. He'll go in for surgery where he is likely to have a plate inserted and his recovery is probably six to eight weeks."

Friday, 17 June 2016
Jay Kennedy-Harris injures his hamstring for the third time this season and will be sidelined for the next 4-6 weeks.

Kennedy-Harris, who had just returned to full training after his second lot of rehab, suffered the setback at training last week.

The Demons will be particularly cautious in Kennedy-Harris' rehab this time around, according to elite performance manager Dave Misson.

"Jay had a minor tweak at training last week," Misson said.

"We don't think it's too serious, but it's his third one in six months, so we're going to have a bit of a look at what we're doing there and make sure we set up Jay to have a good back half of the season."

Monday, 16 February 2015
Jay Kennedy-Harris signs a new two-year deal with the Demons that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2017 season.

"We're happy that Jay has signed on for another two years," Demons football manager Josh Mahoney said.

"He showed some good signs in his first year and has developed further this pre-season and we look forward to what he can produce in the coming years."

Saturday, 22 March 2014
Jay Kennedy-Harris makes his AFL debut for Melbourne at Docklands Stadium with 5 disposals (4 kicks and a handball), 3 marks and 2 tackles in a 17-point loss to St Kilda.
