Nicholas Robertson Biography

Friday, 18 October 2019
Brisbane delist Nick Robertson.

"Robbo has always given 100% at everything he has done; training, preparation, the way he plays," Brisbane's general manager of football David Noble said.

"I am hopeful another club would provide him with another opportunity as a delisted free agent. We thank him for his time at the Lions. It's always hard saying goodbye to good people."

Nick Robertson labels Gold Coast as 'soft' ahead of the Lions' QClash with the Suns at Metricon Stadium.

"I reckon they're soft to be completely honest so I'm looking forward to getting into them," Robertson said.

"I think they take a bit of a backward step when blokes go hard at the footy."

Robertson's comments drew the ire of Brisbane coach Chris Fagan.

"I was none too happy at all because it doesn't reflect our view of the Gold Coast Suns, it's more Nick's feeling towards them," Fagan said on 3AW radio.

"He's probably gone off and said those things and now regrets them. I think he'll learn a valuable lesson from this."

Friday, 11 August 2017
Nick Robertson re-signs with Brisbane for a further two years to remain at the club until the end of 2019.

"I’m glad to sign and just get on with footy. I was always going to sign and I’m really happy the opportunity came to sign. I love Brisbane life," Robertson said.

"It’s really positive this year. I feel the direction we’re heading in is very exciting. For our fans in particular, they should be very excited."

Brisbane Lions captain Dayne Beams loves the way Nick Robertson plays, but said the youngster would have to make smarter decisions when opponents got under his skin.

Robertson was a central figure in two controversial incidents after a headbutt on Richmond skipper Trent Cotchin that saw him reported.

Moments later, Robertson was on the end of a left-hand clip from Richmond superstar Dustin Martin that is also expected to draw attention from the Match Review Panel.

"He goes out and plays his role and lives our trademark probably better than anyone in our side," Beams said.

"We understand he's a little bit of a hot head and sometimes he probably does cross the line a little bit, and yesterday he might have regretted doing what he did.

"We'll have to see what the Match Review Panel come up with, but we don't want Nick to lose his aggression, we want him to make the right decision at the right time and yesterday he probably didn't make the right decision."

Young Brisbane Lion Nick Robertson has no regrets after getting into a scuffle with Sydney superstar Lance Franklin.

"He's a lot taller (9cm) and stronger (19kg heavier) so I thought I had to get him away from goal and that's all that was going through my head," Robertson said.

"I thought I'd try and push him as far out as I could and back myself to run back to goal rather than go one-on-one with him.

"He didn't really like that, so we had a bit of a scuffle.

"We were pretty right straight after. It was all just heat of the moment and not much in it, I didn't think."

Monday, 21 July 2014
West Australians Nick Robertson and Rohan Bewick have both re-signed with the Brisbane Lions.

Bewick, 24, has revitalised his career in the past six weeks and earned himself a new one-year deal, while first-year midfielder Robertson has signed a two-year extension, tying him to the club until at least the end of 2017.

Lions general manager of football operations Dean Warren says Nick Robertson will play an important role in the future for the club.

"He has really settled into life in Brisbane since making the move from Perth and has definitely showed plenty of signs that he is set for a big future with the Brisbane Lions," Warren said.

Saturday, 12 April 2014
Nicholas Robertson makes his AFL debut for Brisbane at Adelaide Oval with 14 disposals (7 kicks and 7 handballs), a mark and 3 tackles in a 113-point loss to Port Adelaide.
