Sam Dwyer Biography

Thursday, 17 September 2015
Sam Dwyer hopes to continue his career at another club after being delisted by the Magpies.

"If my AFL career is over, I can accept that. If I don't get an opportunity anywhere else, I'm going to be very grateful for the opportunity that Collingwood gave me and I'll look back on the time there with great memories," Dwyer said.

"But I think I've still got a lot to offer another team. I turned 29 last month but I definitely feel like a young 29-year-old."

Monday, 14 September 2015
Collingwood has delisted a further four players with Hawthorn premiership player Clinton Young and journeyman midfielder Sam Dwyer headlining the club's list changes.

The Magpies have also decided to release rookies Tony Armstrong and Michael Tanteit, while Lachlan Keeffe and Josh Thomas have been let go as part of their two-year suspensions for taking banned drug clenbuterol.
Friday, 26 July 2013
Lachlan Keeffe, Josh Thomas and Sam Dwyer sign new deals with Collingwood, keeping them at the club until the end of 2015.
Monday, 8 April 2013
Mature-age recruit Sam Dwyer tallies 23 disposals and a goal against Carlton in just his second game for the Magpies after being promoted to Collingwood's senior list.

"I guess last year was probably the last real chance it was going to happen so thankfully I got the call up to Collingwood and I've just got to do my best to contribute," he said.

"It's an amazing feeling. I thought the window of opportunity to be picked up was closing on me.

"I've dreamed of playing AFL my whole football career so to play in front of 85,000 today, it was just an amazing feeling."

Sunday, 31 March 2013
Sam Dwyer makes his AFL debut for Collingwood at Docklands Stadium with 9 disposals (7 kicks and 2 handballs) and 3 marks in a 16-point win over North Melbourne.
