Sean Wellman Biography

Tuesday, 12 December 2017
Sean Wellman is voted onto the Essendon's board.

"Sean will bring significant football and financial experience to the board," Bombers chairman Lindsay Tanner said.

"Sean achieved the ultimate success as a player and was an assistant coach with the club, and he will provide valuable contemporary football knowledge to the board. More recently he has run a successful finance and hospitality business."

Wednesday, 22 November 2017
Sean Wellman has put up his hand to join the club's board, hopeful of playing a part in the Bombers' 17th premiership.

Having previously helped the suspended Essendon players during their enforced lay-off in an unofficial capacity, Wellman believes the time is right for him to give back in a formal way.

"Me like a lot of Essendon people want to see a 17th Essendon premiership sooner rather than later," Wellman said.

"I think I can play a small part in that in terms of supporting the football department."

Monday, 16 September 2013
Sean Wellman resigns from his role as defensive coach of the Bombers after three years of serving as an assistant coach under James Hird.

"The timing to pursue further study and business interests was right for me and at a point in my career that I couldn't ignore," Wellman said.

"I've thoroughly enjoyed my time coaching at Essendon.

"The playing list and people who work at the football club are fantastic people and I'll be supporting the players and the club from the stands next season and beyond."

Wednesday, 29 September 2010
Premiership defender Sean Wellman has rejoined Essendon as an assistant coach.

"We know that Sean will bring a lot of coaching expertise to this group and James was particularly keen to get Sean on board as part of our coaching panel," Essendon general manager of football operations Paul Hamilton said.

"Sean has had wonderful experience at the Bulldogs under Rodney Eade and at Melbourne under Dean Bailey - two coaches that we have the utmost respect for - and we think he will make a valuable contribution to the club."
