Gold Coast veteran Matthew Warnock is one of five players delisted by the Suns on Tuesday.

Fellow defenders Jeremy Taylor and Jackson Allen were also delisted, along with utility Jack Hutchins.

Rookie Leigh Osborne was also cut from the squad.

Gold Coast defender Jack Hutchins is on the road back after a horrific kidney injury which he sustained while playing for the Suns' reserves last season.

"It was frustrating. With a kidney you can run around and do everything but you just couldn't do the contact stuff," he said.

"You felt fine and could run around but you just had to wait. It was frustrating, but you look at the positives from it - every time you get injured you learn more about your body and how you can control it."

Gold Coast defender Jack Hutchins is making a remarkable recovery after falling awkwardly during a freak training mishap.

"He was in all sorts, the boy, but he's back and it's been a remarkable recovery," Gold Coast assistant coach Dean Solomon said.

"Hyperextension is not a good feeling and he's done that to most parts of his body in that accident but he's all right, so we're happy about that."
