Carlton delist Aaron Mullett, Cameron O'Shea as well as rookie-listed duo Matthew Shaw and Jesse Glass-McCasker.

"We wish Aaron, Cam, Matt and Jesse all the best for their future endeavours. They have all contributed strongly to our football program over recent years and should be proud of their achievements during their time at Carlton," Carlton football manager Brad Lloyd said.

Matt Shaw is desperate to capitalise on his career lifeline with Carlton and is eyeing a round one debut in 2018 against Richmond at the MCG.

"I've really got to make the most of this second opportunity, I'm hungry to play AFL senior footy, that's what I'm here for," Shaw said.

"When I got picked up as a rookie I was absolutely stoked to come to a club like Carlton with their big fan base.

"To get the opportunity to play in front of big crowds Richmond v Carlton at the MCG in round one, it doesn't get much better than that."

The arrival of mature-aged recruit Matt Rosa has been a double-edged sword for Gold Coast survivor Matt Shaw.

On one hand, Rosa's arrival during last year's trade period forced the 24-year-old to fight for the wing spot, something he had not had to do since arriving at the club in 2010 as a 17-year-old zone selection.

However Rosa brought so many positives that Shaw now sees his experienced teammate's presence as one of the best things to have happened in his time at the Suns.

"We never had a winger to learn from when I came into the AFL, so it has been really good to have him, learn from him and see things from a different perspective," Shaw said.

"Rosa has got some really good experience and he is not afraid of letting all the boys in on that experience."

Matt Shaw re-signs with Gold Coast until the end of 2017.

"I love the lifestyle up here, it suits me to a tee. I've holidayed up here since I was a young kid, so I've never really thought about heading home," Shaw said.

"It's such a good group of boys up here as well. I love being around them, everyone is around the same age group and everyone really gets each other, so it's a big family up here, which is awesome."

Sunday, 17 April 2011
Matt Shaw makes his AFL debut for Gold Coast at the Gabba with 7 disposals (4 kicks and 3 handballs), 3 marks and a goal in a 90-point loss to Melbourne.
