Just days after the season ended for Collingwood's VFL team, American Shae McNamara becomes one of five delisted rookies that also include Irishman Paul Cribbin, Daniel Farmer, Lachlan Smith and Trent Stubbs.

"Football, at this level, has to be a way of life and all of the boys committed to that, which we thank them for," Collingwood director of football Geoff Walsh said.

"We certainly hope they find success with whatever it is they choose to take on next."

Collingwood rookie Paul Cribbin will miss a month of football after suffering a late night assault in the Melbourne CBD.

"The message from the leadership group was clear and concise to Paul," Collingwood director of football Geoff Walsh said.

"You like to see the players stay away from environments where there is potential danger, and sometimes players have to make decisions that put the brakes on their social lives."

Collingwood rookie Paul Cribbin has suffered facial injuries in an allegedly unprovoked attack in the Melbourne CBD during the early hours of the morning.

"Cribbin was under the influence of alcohol, the club will separately be discussing the player's conduct with him in due course, and will provide an update if and when appropriate," a statement from Collingwood read.
