Melbourne has added to its list of trade departures, cutting a swathe of players which include Matthew Bate, Ricky Petterd, Jamie Bennell, Lucas Cook, Liam Jurrah and rookies Jai Sheahan, Leigh Williams and Kelvin Lawrence.

Melbourne rookie Kelvin Lawrence walks out on the club, ending his two-year career with the Demons to return to Perth.

"Despite the best efforts of the Melbourne Football Club and AFL Players' Association, Kelvin has decided that he is unable to meet the demands of AFL football and returned home to Perth," Melbourne football manager Josh Mahoney said.

"We respect this decision and will make every effort to exit Kelvin appropriately."
