Tuesday, 27 October 2015
First-round draftee Elliott Kavanagh and young defender Alex Browne are Essendon's latest delistings ahead of Friday's first list lodgement.

"Alex and Elliott are both terrific young men and were fine representatives of the Essendon Football Club," list manager Adrian Dodoro said.

"Despite limited opportunities in the senior team, both worked extremely hard to ensure they got the most out of their careers.

"Alex and Elliott showed tremendous resilience and determination to work their way back into senior selection this season, Elliott on his game while Alex overcame a serious knee injury.

Alex Browne's father has revealed his disappointment in Essendon's handling of the supplements scandal.

"As a family our main issue has been to support Alex through it," Browne said at the Brownlow Medal breakfast at Etihad Stadium.

"He's OK, and unfortunately we're just waiting for the end (of the process) to happen.

"We feel a bit let down by the whole governance factor of the club. He's OK but there's a slight uncertainty about the future with him and his health, and there shouldn't be any uncertainty really."

As he continues to recover from a knee reconstruction, Alex Browne re-signs with Essendon until the end of 2015.

"I'm looking forward to repaying the faith the club has shown in me, and it's great to have secured my future at the club for next season," Browne said.

"Doing my rehab work has been quite lonely at times, so the news has been a massive motivational boost and allows me to focus fully on my return."

Alex Browne will miss the rest of the 2014 season after scans confirmed he has torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

"Alex was very unlucky, his leg got caught under his body on the field and as a result he has torn his cruciate and medial ligament. Unfortunately he does need a full, traditional reconstruction," Bombers doctor Bruce Reid said.

"The good news is he hasn't done anything else inside his knee as far as damaging the surface or cartilage, but he will undergo surgery in the coming weeks."

Alex Browne suffers a season-ending knee injury late in the first quarter of the Bombers' NAB Challenge clash against Gold Coast after scans confirmed damage to his anterior cruciate ligament.

"Shattered. Thanks for all the messages and support. Just another obstacle, I'll be right," Browne said via Twitter.

Alex Browne and Ariel Steinberg have signed new deals with Essendon.

"He can take the game on, use the ball, run with it and he has some exciting attributes so we think with another big pre-season in 2013 should be a big one for him," Essendon football operations manager Paul Hamilton said of Browne.

"He is playing senior football in his second year and I think all our supporters have seen first hand some of his capabilities and strengths."

"We have given him another year for him to show us what he can deliver," Hamilton also said about Steinberg.

"We believe he has a real lot of upside and we are keen to get a full pre-season into him and activate a lot of the potential we believe he has."

Young Bomber Alex Browne reflects on how a hamstring injury has blighted his pre-season.

"I'm frustrated about what's happened, but you can look at it negatively or positively and I think the key to getting back quicker is to look at it positively and to look at what I can do without training," Browne said.

"I'm back doing a lot of boxing and swimming, and I've started running again now. It's progressing pretty well."

Monday, 6 February 2012
A hamstring injury has disrupted young Essendon defender Alex Browne's pre-season.

"It's pretty frustrating," Browne said.

"All you want to do at this time of the year is get on the park and put your hand up for selection, so to get these sort of niggles and interruptions are going to hinder my chances. But it's better now than during the season, I suppose."

Young Don Alex Browne speaks of spending time in rehabilitation due to injuries.

"But being in the rehab group has been very, very tough," Browne said.

"I think they've tried to make it that little bit tougher than what the other guys are doing, and there's no skills or ball work so it makes us miss it that bit more."

Friday, 3 June 2011
Alex Browne makes his AFL debut for Essendon at the MCG with 3 disposals (2 kicks and a handball) and a tackle in a 33-point loss to Melbourne.
