Viv Michie is facing four weeks on the sidelines after fracturing his jaw playing for Casey Scorpions in the VFL on Sunday.

Melbourne football manager Josh Mahoney told AFL.com.au Michie had copped a bump to his jaw against Essendon's VFL team at Windy Hill, with scans on Monday revealing a small crack of the jaw.

Michie also suffered a cracked wisdom tooth in the incident.

"Viv will have surgery tonight and is expected to miss four weeks of football," Mahoney said.

"This is a disappointing setback for Viv, who had displayed some good form during early parts of the year."

Viv Michie says he is happy to be back home in Melbourne after spending two years at Fremantle.

"Being at Fremantle for a couple of years was good fun, but it was tough being away from family support and friends back home," Michie said.

Peel Thunder football manager Brad Bootsma believes Viv Michie will be a good acquisition for Melbourne.

"His chances were limited at Fremantle with the midfield that is there. I see him really blossoming where he's going now," Bootsma said.

"I thought he was a really good clearance player for us with really good skills.

"His best attributes are the way he does kick the ball and distributes it. He's really good in tight."

Tuesday, 25 June 2013
Viv Michie inches closer to a debut with the Dockers after dominating in the WAFL with 30-plus disposals in four of his past six matches for Peel Thunder.

"The first thing that impresses me is his attitude in relation in wanting to put the team first," Peel coach Cam Shepherd said.

"And then once he's put the team first, then his ability to win inside ball and be able to spread and do all the things that we ask of him defensively as well has been really positive.

"I think he's shown that he's been resilient. I think he's shown he's been able to build on his game."

Thursday, 15 March 2012
Young Fremantle player Viv Michie has been diagnosed with a second stress fracture in his right foot and is expected to spend more time on the sidelines after struggling with the same injury last season.

"It's very disappointing for Viv, who is very talented and who we believe is a long-term player with the club," Fremantle football manager Chris Bond said.

"A time frame for Viv's return to full training will be confirmed in due course."
