Jake Batchelor joins St Kilda's new-look coaching panel for 2019.

Batchelor will take on the role of defensive development coach after a season with Frankston in the VFL as a playing assistant.

"Jake is someone not long out of the game who we've got to know through his involvement this season," St Kilda head of football Simon Lethlean said.

"He's just come out of the system, so we think he can play an important role in helping develop our young defenders."

Richmond delist Jake Batchelor.

Batchelor played 84 games for the Tigers over seven seasons, but managed just one senior game in 2017.

"Jake has made an invaluable contribution to the club," Richmond general manager of football Dan Richardson said.

"His strong work ethic has been second to none."

Richmond sign Kane Lambert, Jake Batchelor and Dan Butler to one-year extensions.

"The club's pre-season campaign is now underway and it is fantastic to have Kane, Jake and Dan re-sign, as we set our sights firmly on season 2017," Richmond football talent manager Dan Richardson said.

Jake Batchelor's season is over after undergoing a shoulder reconstruction.

Batchelor had been managing a troublesome left shoulder through the second half of the season.

"It's disappointing that Jake won't be finishing the season, however, he was unable to continue pushing through with pain," football manager Dan Richardson said.

"Our medical team recommended that he have it repaired immediately so that he can fully recover by the start of the 2017 pre-season."

Richmond has re-signed six players, including versatile defender Jake Batchelor and Ricky Petterd.

Batchelor has inked a deal that will keep him at Punt Rd until at least the end of 2016, while Matt Dea, Matt McDonough, Todd Elton and Petterd have also put pen to paper.

Former Port Adelaide midfielder Matt Thomas has re-signed as a rookie-listed player for a further year as well.

Tiger Jake Batchelor is the Round 16 NAB Rising Star nominee after tallying 22 touches against the Bombers.

"Jake has worked really hard to get his opportunity and we have been impressed with how composed he looks at the highest level," Richmond coach Damien Hardwick said.

"He has become one of our most reliable kicks coming out of defence and is an outstanding character around the club."
