Luke Delaney Biography

Wednesday, 31 August 2016
Luke Delaney, Tom Curren, Josh Saunders and Brenton Payne are delisted by St Kilda.
Sunday, 5 January 2014
Adam Schneider says Luke Delaney will be a key addition to St Kilda's defence after being picked up from the Kangaroos.

"I think Luke Delaney has impressed. He's an extremely big boy and you can just tell he knows what to do," Schneider said.

"He was just lacking a chance at North Melbourne and he's really standing out to us, he's such a big body and that's exactly what we needed.

"I think he'll probably play most games if not all of them and hopefully really help us down back."

Tuesday, 22 October 2013
North Melbourne defender Luke Delaney moves to St Kilda for pick No.77.

"The meeting we had with Chris Pelchen, Scott Watters and Ameet Bains really excited Luke. They were very clear on where they were headed and they made no bones about [the fact] there was probably going to be some tough times before the good times," Delaney's manager Greg Size said.

"Luke could see he had an opportunity to play regularly and also have some input and perhaps guidance to the younger players."

Monday, 30 September 2013
Luke Delaney has nominated St Kilda as his preferred new home after telling the Roos earlier this month he wanted a trade.

"Luke's at the stage at the moment where he's decided that if North can manage to wangle a trade he'd like to get to the Saints, but obviously it doesn't always work that way," Delaney's manager Greg Size said.

"There is a long way to go. We've certainly had other clubs come to us and say, 'Hey, we're keen on Luke'.

"But it's a matter of who they can move on in trade week and perhaps (whether they) make room on their list and in the salary cap."

Saturday, 7 September 2013
Luke Delaney has told North Melbourne he wants to be traded, with St Kilda leading the race for the key defender from the Brisbane Lions and Carlton.
Thursday, 15 August 2013
Out-of-contract North Melbourne defender Luke Delaney is understood to have attracted the attention of at least four opposition clubs.

Delaney, 24, has played 23 games since joining North in the 2009 rookie draft, but in his limited AFL opportunities has shown he can go toe-to-toe with the game's best power forwards.

Saturday, 21 May 2011
Luke Delaney makes his AFL debut for North Melbourne at the Gabba with 9 disposals (3 kicks and 6 handballs), 2 marks and 3 tackles in a 14-point loss to Brisbane.
