Melbourne has re-signed three emerging players in James Strauss, Jake Spencer and Rohan Bail.

"These three form a part of the younger group who are coming through together that we think are the players of the future," Melbourne list manager Tim Harrington said.

Melbourne defender James Strauss has made it through his first hit-out with Casey on the comeback from a nasty broken leg.

"When I trained for the first time with the boys when I came back, I had to spoil, jump and land, and I thought about that a fair bit," he said.

"I wondered if I was going to land properly or break my leg again.

"I spent a good two or three months in the pre-season jumping and running and making sure everything was correct, so when I played on the weekend, I was going out with 100 per cent confidence."

Saturday, 6 August 2011
Melbourne defender James Strauss has suffered a sickening lower leg injury in the first quarter of the Demons-Blues match.

"It's a terrible injury," Demons caretaker coach Todd Viney said.

"It's one of those ones if you're playing and you see it, it can really shock you so I'm not sure the total effect on the players."

Saturday, 27 March 2010
James Strauss makes his AFL debut for Melbourne at the MCG with 9 disposals (5 kicks and 4 handballs), 5 marks and 2 tackles in a 56-point loss to Hawthorn.
Tuesday, 7 July 2009
First-year player James Strauss will have a shoulder reconstruction and miss the rest of the season.

Strauss did not play for the Casey Scorpions last weekend and has since undergone reconstruction surgery on his left shoulder.

He will now undergo a three-month rehabilitation program and is expected to be available when Melbourne resumes its pre-season training in October.
