Ben Graham Biography

Monday, 3 December 2012
Former Geelong captain and NFL punter Ben Graham will return to Australia to work for the Western Bulldogs.

"Part of my role is to strategically design what the Western Bulldogs will look like in 2020," Graham told SEN radio.

"In my experience, it's the perfect role to be able to use what I've seen in the NFL and help develop the Bulldogs so that they're a powerhouse in years to come."

Former Cat Ben Graham has challenged the weakling image of NFL punters after making a game-changing ferocious tackle for his Cardinals.

"I had to make the tackle,'' Graham said.

"I saw (Amendola) land on his back with his eyes shut and I thought I had knocked him out.''

Graham's tackle was named by the Arizona Republic newspaper as the "key play'' of the game.

Ben Graham has encouraged Anthony Rocca to chase his dream being an NFL punter, but says the task of breaking into the league will not be easy.

"Anthony has Sav in his corner, so that's a head start no one else can get," Graham said.

"You may only get one shot at it, and then it's the sacrifice and discipline and hurdles you face along the way. That might prevent a lot of people from pushing it further.

"I will never say to anyone don't give it a go, but then again I saw you don't want to completely turn your life upside-down for a dream that might not be there."

Former Geelong captain Ben Graham's NFL team, the Cardinals, lost at the Superbowl last year. This year his team is again headed towards the playoffs.

"Last year the experience through the playoffs and Superbowl was phenomenal. This year we are 7-4 and have a two-game lead in our division, so if someone had said to me at the start of the year this is where I would be, I would take it," Graham said.
