Robert DiPierdomenico Biography

Robert DiPierdomenico has been reinstated as an Auskick ambassador after learning more about indigenous communities following his gaffe about Gavin Wanganeen's aboriginal heritage.

"Robert has spent much of the past six weeks visiting communities and has gained a greater understanding of the richness, diversity and circumstances of indigenous communities," AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou said.

"Robert has told us how much he has learned from the trip and we have had a positive response from the communities to Robert's acknowledgement of his mistake and his desire to engage, share and learn more about indigenous Australia."

Robert DiPierdomenico is stood down by the AFL from his role as AusKick ambassador after a racist gaffe involving Port Adelaide and Essendon great Gavin Wanganeen.

DiPierdomenico was on record as saying that Wanganeen was "not too bad for an abo" at a footy function.

"I feel very ashamed of the words that I used, and I know that words can hurt and I hurt a lot of people ... and to be stood down from the AFL, I feel very ashamed of that," DiPierdomenico said.
