"Chris, in particular, worked hard for his opportunities with us despite having a bad run with injuries."

Rookie Chris Schmidt is in line to debut for the Crows against Melbourne at the MCG on Sunday, after he was upgraded to the senior list during the week.

"We've elevated Chris. It's not a guarantee that he'll play, but it means he's coming under consideration and we can't pick him if he's not on the list," Crows coach Neil Craig said.

Adelaide rookie Chris Schmidt will miss the rest of the season after being sent for surgery on his injured shoulder.

"Chris has played with the shoulder injury for the last month because I actually wanted to see a bit more of him, so he's done a fantastic job to play," Adelaide coach Neil Craig said.

"The decision was, if he could continue to play, the end of May was the time for him to go and have the operation done, so that if things do fall his way he'll be ready for pre-season which is really important for him."
