Crows recruit Angus Graham admits he has some catching up to do when it comes to fitness at his new club.

"The fitness of the group probably surprised me, coming from Richmond. As a core group as a whole I think [the Crows are] a lot fitter group than what I'm used to," Graham said.

"I've probably had three or four weeks longer break so I'm probably still trying to catch up."

New Adelaide recruit Angus Graham says he isn't content to just be a backup ruckman to Sam Jacobs and will fight for the number one ruck spot at the Crows.

"I've been number one before and I still think I'm a very good player and can take his spot, so I'm not just going to allow him to walk straight in, I'm going to fight over the pre-season and put my best foot forward," Graham said.

"If I'm playing better footy than him I expect to get a game … I'm sure if the coaches think I'm playing better they'll play me."

Richmond big man Angus Graham is traded to Adelaide after playing just one game in 2012.

Graham signs a two-year deal with Adelaide after an exchange of late NAB AFL Draft picks between the clubs.

Tiger Jack Riewoldt says ruckman Angus Graham could benefit from being challenged by ex-Crow Ivan Maric.

"Having Ivan here will challenge him and Gus will have to get his arse into gear. He knows that, and it's exciting that Gus might lift his game as he's never been challenged before," Riewoldt said.

The Herald Sun reports that a woman has alleged that she was slapped by Richmond ruckman Angus Graham.

"I was just going to get a drink with a couple of my friends and I was standing like kinda (sic) in a big crowd and he turned around and looked at me, I looked back and he hit me on the cheek," she alleged.

Richmond has been unable to substantiate these claims.

"The Richmond Football Club does not condone any behaviour that disrespects women and has therefore investigated the serious allegations that were made against the player," a statement from the club said.

"These inquiries have been unable to substantiate the allegation. The club would cooperate fully with any police investigation into the matter."
