Dean Polo Biography

Thursday, 6 September 2012
St Kilda has delisted four players after its 2012 campaign ended with a ninth-place finish including Dean Polo, Sam Crocker, Daniel Archer and Brett Peake.

"We would like to express our appreciation to all four players for their contribution to the St Kilda football club and wish them every success for the future," St Kilda coach Scott Watters said.

New St Kilda recruit Dean Polo says his versatility will be very important if he is to work his way into side.

"I think my versatility would be a good thing for the club. I can play in the midfield and down back," Polo said.

St Kilda pick up recycled players in Ryan Gamble and Dean Polo at the 2010 national draft.

"I don't think it is a huge risk," St Kilda coach Ross Lyon said.

"It was a diluted draft, but what we really executed with our first four picks allowed us to do that. We think we have gone forward and we back ourselves in our decision making."

Tigers coach Damien Hardwick says suspended players Daniel Connors, Luke McGuane, Dean Polo and Ben Cousins have let him down after indulging in rowdy drunken antics at the team hotel in Sydney.

"I think all four have let me down. Dan needs to take some responsibility for his actions," Hardwick said.

"I just don't think they handled the situation well enough though. If someone actually had the balls to stand up and say 'Listen Dan, enough's enough, go to bed' [then] none of that would have happened."

Yound Tiger defender Daniel Connors is hit with an eight-week suspension, including a six-week ban from training with the club, after being intoxicated and engaging in unruly behaviour at the team hotel following the club's loss to the Swans in Sydney.

Ben Cousins, Luke McGuane and Dean Polo were also suspended for a match for their involvement in the incident.
