Troy Selwood has joined brother Joel at Skilled Stadium starting in his position as VFL player and mentor.

"While I'm still keen to play in a competitive league I also felt a need to enjoy more football after a couple of injury plagued seasons," Selwood said.

"The best way for him to finish, we thought, was to play in the seniors," Voss said.

"He had earned that right anyway but I thought it gave him the opportunity to be able to finish how he should. He has been an outstanding person over such a long period of time for our club, the boys love him."

A sickening head-knock continues to take its toll on Troy Selwood.

"We are obviously quite careful about head knocks and when guys have concussion.

"Every now again as a coach you get goose bumps about different things, and I got goose bumps when I saw that," Voss said on Monday.

"I thought 'that's what teamwork is all about' - when one of your mates puts his body on the line for you and is willing to hurt himself for the greater cause.

"When you see all the guys go over to him after the game and acknowledge that effort, it is spine tingling."
