"I always feel like the easiest thing about AFL footy was getting drafted. The hardest thing was making a career out of it.

"I was drinking a little bit of alcohol at the time.

"I nearly blew a chance in the early days, and I'm very thankful I didn't go to another club or I wasn't de-listed and I was able to make a career at this club, which means a hell of a lot to me."

"Those two boys, physically right now, are probably in the best nick they've been in since I've been here."

McGinnity, Sheppard and Brennan have all signed on for two years.

"We see all of those players as integral members of our squad," West Coast list and contracts manager Craig Vozzo said.

"Brad Sheppard is a player we rate very highly and anticipate will play a significant role in the improvement we are looking for in pushing inside the top four and enhancing our premiership aspirations.

"He has many of the traits we need to take that next quantum leap and after recent surgery, we look forward to a strong pre-season from him as part of his planned development.

"I'll go through with him the areas in the votes where he was lower in our criteria that he could be higher."
