Griffin Logue Biography

Monday, 10 July 2023
Griffin Logue will be sidelined for up to 12 months after rupturing his ACL in the Kangaroos' defeat to Geelong.
Thursday, 2 March 2023
Following the departures of several Fremantle players during the 2023 trade period, including Rory Lobb, Blake Acres and Griffin Logue, Dockers coach Justin Longmuir admits he could've done more to keep them at the club.

"Part of my role and maybe a part I didn't do as well as I could have last year, is to sell opportunity to some of those guys and give them a clear explanation of where they fit in our organisation and my vision for them going forward," Longmuir said.

"That's sometimes tricky to do as a senior coach, because … you don't want to make promises you can't keep. I'm always trying to tread that line, but maybe I could have trod that line a little bit better."

Monday, 3 October 2022
Fremantle is in talks with Griffin Logue and hoping to tempt the talented 24-year-old to re-sign with Fremantle if the role is right, rather than seeking a trade to North Melbourne.

"We haven't given up hope yet. He's indicated that he wants to go to North, but we'd like to see that through and I don't think that will happen straight away," Dockers list manager manager David Walls said.

"We just rate Griffin so highly. He finished sixth in our Doig Medal on Saturday night, so it's really been what position he can play. We're working with that on Griff to sell where potentially he can play."

Thursday, 15 September 2022
Griffin Logue requests a trade from the Dockers to North Melbourne.

The 24-year-old has been weighing up his future throughout the season and has had a long contract offer in front of him at the Dockers.

"In our discussion, Griff stated that 'it was the hardest decision he had ever had to make' and that he loves the club and his teammates," Freo football boss Peter Bell said.

"He also communicated that he was very keen to ensure a positive result for all parties through the trade process."

Tuesday, 19 July 2022
Fremantle will continue to use Griffin Logue as a swingman to benefit the team, despite a series of standout defensive performances that have seen him break into the Dockers' best backline.

"He's broken into our best backline, but the luxury he gives us as a team is flexibility. The fact that he's performed really well as a forward and he can bring some of his backline traits to the forward line, it's where he benefits the team more," Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir said.

"In my discussions with him he's really open to being a bit of a swingman for us and playing multiple roles within the team."

Tuesday, 2 April 2019
Griffin Logue will be at least another fortnight away from returning to the field after a hamstring setback.
Thursday, 7 March 2019
Griffin Logue is in doubt for Fremantle's 2019 season-opener after injuring his hamstring in the Dockers' JLT Community Series match against Collingwood in Joondalup.
Tuesday, 12 February 2019
Now over the congenital foot issue that kept him out of Freo's line-up in 2018 and forced him into surgery, Griffin Logue is setting his sights on breaking back into the side as a third tall backman.

"I'm flying at the moment. The body feels really good. Obviously (it was) a bit of a frustrating year last year, but that's what you sign up for, that's what happens," Logue said.

"It was the first long-term injury that I had. It was one of those ones where you check in week by week, so I couldn't really switch off and relax.

"It was a good learning experience for me. I felt like I matured a bit as a person and a player. It could be a blessing in disguise, who knows."

Sunday, 26 November 2017
Nat Fyfe will have a full house from hosting three Fremantle teammates including Griffin Logue, Alex Pearce and the Dockers' first round draftee Andrew Brayshaw.

Pearce, however, will soon be moving into his own home in a few weeks to make way for the club's new recruit who will make the move from Melbourne.

Tuesday, 25 July 2017
Living with Nat Fyfe has given the young Docker Griffin Logue rare insight into what it takes to make it in the AFL.

"His preparation is second-to-none and this whole concept of coming from a kid to becoming a pro like he is is what I really want to tap into," Logue said.

"I try and act like a sponge off him just to get as much information as I can.

"I thought if I didn't get kicked out (of his house) I'd give it a crack and try to stay there and learn off the best."

Saturday, 8 April 2017
Griffin Logue makes his AFL debut for Fremantle with 10 disposals (5 kicks and 5 handballs), 3 marks and 2 tackles in a 16-point win over the Western Bulldogs.
Thursday, 8 December 2016
Fremantle extends the contract of Griffin Logue, its first pick in the 2016 NAB AFL Draft, tying the 18-year-old to the club until the end of 2019.

Logue told the club's website he was rapt to sign a one-year extension so soon after being drafted, given all draftees received a standard two-year agreement.

"I like to attack everything at full pace, so I don't think (the contract) makes too much of a difference in terms of my training, but I'm just definitely happy with the outcome for sure," Logue said.

Friday, 25 November 2016
Fremantle select Griffin Logue with pick No.8 in the 2016 National Draft.

“He’s a young, tall defender and I really like his athletic qualities. He’s an outstanding character, so bringing him in to our list is great," Fremantle list manager Brad Lloyd said.

“He’s a talented player and fills a strong list management need and as a young Western Australian, he’s a really good fit for us.”
