Fremantle delists Irish rookie Sean Hurley.

The Dockers recruited Hurley as an international rookie ahead of the 2015 season from County Kildare.

The 196cm Irishman trained with the Dockers for three weeks in November 2013 and had impressed the club with his athleticism. He was recruited after spending 2014 playing Gaelic football in Ireland.

He played 14 league games and five reserves games for Fremantle's WAFL club Peel Thunder in 2015.

But he required surgery on a hip injury in the 2016 pre-season and only managed three games for the entire year for Peel Thunder.

"He's been outstanding with his attitude. He's a really big boy. He's 196cm and he's got a really strong aerobic running capacity," Fremantle list manager Brad Lloyd said.

"He's come in and he's really given his all. We think we can develop him as a tall key position player.

"He hasn't looked out of place (with the Australian football). He did some of the pre-season with us last year so he's had time to prepare and hone the skills with the AFL ball."

Fremantle's Irish recruit Sean Hurley is hoping to emulate the feats of Tadhg Kennelly by winning an AFL premiership.

The 22-year-old Gaelic footballer from County Kildare arrived in Perth last Monday after signing with Fremantle as a rookie.

"I remember when I was a young lad looking at Tadhg Kennelly dancing on top of the stage after winning the Grand Final," Hurley said.

"That was on the news at nine o'clock so everyone in Ireland was watching that. If someone else could do something similar to that, it could give another boost to the sport."
