Eric Wallace Biography

Tuesday, 26 July 2016
Former North Melbourne international rookie Eric Wallace has signed on with American NFL side Carolina Panthers.

The North Carolina local spent three years on the Kangaroos list, but failed to play a senior game.

Wallace – nicknamed 'The Beast' – has earned a spot on the Panthers 90-man roster in the position of tight end.

"I grew up a Carolina fan," the 27-year-old told the Panthers website. "Today, the dream came true."

American prospect Eric Wallace has been delisted by North Melbourne, ending the club's three-year experiment with the athletic ruckman.

He was one of three players delisted by the Kangaroos, with the club also parting ways with 29-year-old defender Scott McMahon and rookie Max Warren.

"We’d like to thank Scott, Max and Eric for their commitment and dedication to the club during their time at Arden St," football manager Geoff Walsh said.

"Scott, Max and Eric have represented the club extremely well both on and off the field and should be proud of their contributions.

"They have all been true professionals during their time in North colours and we wish them all the very best for the future."

International rookie Eric Wallace has been rewarded for his impressive development in the VFL this season with a new one-year contract at North Melbourne.

Wallace, a former US college basketballer from North Carolina, joined North Melbourne in December 2012 after a 10-day trial at Arden Street.

The 25-year-old's existing two-year deal was set to expire at the end of this season but he will now remain on North's rookie list in 2015.

Wallace spent his first season at North playing with VFL affiliate North Ballarat's reserves team, but this year has stepped up as the No. 1 ruckman in the Roosters' senior side.

In 14 VFL games this year, Wallace is averaging 34 hit-outs and has kicked six goals.
