An ankle injury will sideline Tiger midfielder Nathan Foley for the rest of the 2009 season.

"Nathan has been restricted with his ankle since the early stages of the season, which has made it difficult for him to train, prepare for games and recover each week," Football manager Ross Monaghan said.

Foley will undergo surgery for his ankle that has troubled him the entire season which will allow young defender Jarrod Silvester to remain on the primary list.

Defender Jarrod Silvester says he thought he was going to get the vital free kick that saved the Tigers from defeat against North Melbourne on Sunday.

With 20 seconds remaining and scores level, Silvester found himself one-out with David Hale deep in the North Melbourne forward-line.

The young Tiger defender was able to hold the front position in the contest and won the free-kick after the umpire ruled that Hale had grabbed his jumper.

"I thought I had it," Silvester said after the match.

"But I didn't know what the umpire was going to pay."

Jade Rawlings will make it two debutants in as many games with rookie-listed defender Jarrod Silvester to get his opportunity against St Kilda.

"His form at Coburg has been terrific this year and we've just been waiting for an opportunity for him to play. We just decided to give him a challenge this week against one of the better teams in the competition," Football manager Ross Monaghan said.
