Billy Brownless admits he had his doubts over whether his son Oscar Brownless could make it to the big time.

"He has worked really hard and I remember five or six years ago he was a bit chubby and I was thinking, he won't even get a game with Geelong ammos, which was where he was playing," Billy said.

"But he has worked really hard and to his credit he has got down and dirty and he likes the contested stuff.

"He uses the ball well and his running is really, really good so that is where he has really improved things."

Oscar Brownless is picked up by Geelong as a father-son selection with pick No.74 in 2018 AFL Draft.

"Oscar couldn’t really have done anymore to give himself the opportunity to get drafted this year. He’s been a really consistent performer for the falcons and VIC country," Geelong talent manager Troy Selwood said.

"What we like about Oscar is he’s another versatile player and we’ve got no problem playing him in defence, inside or outside midfield or across half forward."

Geelong are set to nominate Oscar Brownless, son of Billy Brownless, as a potential father-son pick at next month's NAB AFL Draft.

It will allow Geelong to then have the option to match a bid for the hard-working prospect during the draft.

"Obviously I'd be open to going to any club because any opportunity you have to go to any club you're going to take it no matter what, but if it was to be Geelong it'd be the ultimate dream," Oscar said.

"If I'm lucky enough that it happens to me I'm definitely going to take that opportunity."
